Oracle rebranding of Business intelligence solution continues, this time Data Visualization Desktop (DVD) has been renamed to Oracle Analytics Desktop (OAD).
Oracle Analytics for Applications (OAX) is a Cloud-based data and analytics platform developed by Oracle, leveraging Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) and Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) that is built to work with Oracle’s Cloud SaaS applications like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud, Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud, Supply Chain Management (SCM) Cloud and Customer Experience (CX) Cloud. In simple terms, OAX is cloud version Oracle BI Applications (OBIA), however, OAX is not replacing OBIA because OBIA will continue to focus on on-prem Oracle and non-Oracle systems. Oracle has promised to support OBIA at least until 2030. OAX may be an obvious choice for customers implementing Oracle Fusion ERP, SCM, HCM, etc. OAX is fully extensible and customizable; allowing customers to import external data into ADW, expand the base semantic model, and add additional content to OAC. Customer-managed components are mutable Oracle managed part of the architecture are immutable Factory Schema (OOTB) is available as read-only to Custom Schema for any data integration The 3 pillars for Oracle Analytics are: • Augmented • Integrated • Collaborative The price has been simplified with just user-based or CPU based licensing. Removing all previous complex combinations.
More option means more confusion… and that’s true for crowded BI/Reporting options in the market. There are so many options with everyone claiming to be best, it’s quite easy to be distracted on our own goal. The best way to keep track of your key requirements is to create a scoring sheet, and give each features a score depending on your organisations need. The list here contains list of the features that we have seen available in different BI/Reporting tools in market listed, but do add as many as you can to make sure you take a very informed decision.
